Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2019

Celebrating National Volunteer Week 2019

National Volunteer Week (NVW2019) is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. It was held during May 20-26 with this year’s theme ‘making a world of difference’.

Patsy volunteers twice per month at The Pantry – our affordable food market. In celebration of NVW2019, we chatted with Patsy and heard her thoughts about life as a dedicated volunteer.

“Volunteering helps you to take the focus off of yourself and think of others and what their need is. I love being around such a friendly team, who show Jesus’ love to one another and to those who use The Pantry.

“My most memorable moment so far has been witnessing the incredible generosity of the Coastlands family and their commitment to support The Pantry. This could not be achieved without them. I can’t describe the feeling I get from the smile of gratitude and thankfulness on the faces of those we have been able to help with gifts of food. I want people to know they can make a difference and are making a difference in the Brighton community and beyond.

“I believe we are never too old to learn.  It has been a wonderful opportunity to develop new skills and use old skills in a productive way.

“Volunteering in The Pantry is a great avenue to meet different kinds of people and make new friends while revealing the love of Jesus. People who visit The Pantry are well received and cared for.”

Coastlands thanks all our volunteers. You have hearts of gold and make a world of difference in our local community, one encounter at a time.

‘The Pantry’ is a budget friendly food market to promote affordable food, essential care and nutrition and is facilitated by Food Care, Coastlands Community Care, find out more.
